Nothing is straightforward with Everton is it? We had a great season last time out, done some decent business in the summer tying down Gareth Barry, Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman, John Stones and bring in Romelu Lukaku, Muhamed Besic, Samuel Eto’o and Christian Atsu on loan and the optimism soared. Then we start the season and boom someone lets down the balloon to leave us all feeling a bit deflated.

Hibbert : Blues will be fine

Everton’s Tony Hibbert believes that it’s only a matter of time before things click into place and the Blues begin to climb the table. The right back who had not started a 1st team game since December 2012, has now played in Everton’s last 4 fixtures and is adamant that the club will turn things around quickly despite Everton winning only one of their first seven Premier League fixtures.

I wrote a piece in these pages at the start of this season suggesting that despite all the new-found converts and optimism , this campaign may well turn out to be one of experience , of learning of perhaps , having to go sideways to go forwards and in honesty nothing I have witnessed to this point has made me alter that view. I am however bewildered by the online hate fest that ensues should we not win for 3-4 games , moreover that in the wake of the Naismith – let’s be all K*pite and utterly delete that many actively hated this Lad for no more than being played out of position by our previous Manager but he is now is everyone’s hero , we have seemed to have learned nothing as regards Romelu Lukaku . I shall attempt to address both points herein .
