Bayern Munich forward Xherdan Shaqiri has admitted that he may have to leave the German giants and says a move to England ‘would be an option’.
Manchester United target Toni Kroos has admitted that he is expecting to still be at the Allianz Arena next season. The Bayern Munich midfielder has been offered an extension by the club but has so far not been able to agree the new terms.
Dieter Hecking has taken over struggling Wolfsburg. Hecking has signed a contract leaving him in charge of the club till 2016. With his contract at Nürnberg coming to end in 2014, the club were desperately trying to convince him to stay till the end of the season. However Nürnberg failed to do so and have found themselves looking for a new manager during the winter break.
With the international break this month there weren’t as many matches in the Bundesliga as the previous month. However the clubs certainly kept up the entertainment with shocks and some thrilling games to look back on.
Former Germany midfielder Tim Borowski has been forced to retire from the game after being unable to recover from ongoing injury problems with his right ankle.
The former Werder Bremen midfield star had further surgery on the ankle but that failed to clear the injury he picked up whilst playing for Bremen in October 2010.
Last month Lucien Favre’s side walked out to a packed Borussia-Park ahead of their Champions League Play-off tie against Ukraine giants Dynamo Kiev. However if we look back two seasons it was a different story, the side from the small town of Monchengladbach were in a relegation battle. It wasn’t looking good for the foals as they sat bottom of the Bundesliga when Favre took over in February 2011 to replace Michael Frontzeck. Gladbach gathered some form under Favre as they picked up a vital 20 points from mid February to the end of the season which secured a relegation play-off spot with a total of 36 points, they would have to face Bundesliga 2. side VfL Bochum.
