Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told the media that he is hoping to have midfielder Aaron Ramsey available for Sunday’s important Premier League game against Everton.
The 23-year-old Welsh international hasn’t featured for the Gunners since limping out of Arsenal’s 3-1 win at West Ham with a thigh strain on Boxing Day.
Ramsey, who has scored 13 goals so far this season, was expected to be sidelined for around six weeks but his return has been hit by niggling setbacks .
Wenger gave an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of the Gunners’s trip to Merseyside.
“Aaron and Nacho Monreal are back training with the squad, so that is good news. Hopefully they will be available for Sunday. Diaby is back on the pitches, so that is good news.
Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil are still out but centre-back Laurent Koscielny may be available for the FA Cup semi-final.
The FA Cup will be too soon for Ozil, but he will hopefully be back soon after that.”
The availability of these players will boost the Gunners as they try to fight off a spirited challenge from Everton as they attempt to secure Champions League football for the 18th consecutive season.
