One , as obviously I am brilliant at this Everton thing , that is kina A Given , I think we shall all concur , but moreover for , one more with respect to My Ego , I DID SAY , Review this Piece in 18 months . I stand by that . However , and Two , from the distance of just a few short months the landscape of the E.P.L. is currently so different from the established concept of English Top Flight football as to be equivalent to those Dunes on the Moon .

Oh well December and Christmas are well and truly upon us and Evertonians could be forgiven that Santa Claus has delivered their present already on June 6th 2013. That was of course the Day Roberto Martinez was announced as the new Everton manager. Since that day Everton have undergone a transformation of the positive kind and we are a much better club for it. If we were looking for an almost definitive moment to say ‘Thanks to Roberto Martinez, we are a different animal this season’ then last week was that moment and what a week it was.

The summer of 87 was a great time to be an Evertonian. We’d just won the title and we were looking forward to the next season with a spring in our step and a smirk on our face. To top it all off the club announced that we had been invited by Real Madrid to play them at the Bernebau, to celebrate some sort of centenary. They had requested us because we were the current English champions. and the game would take place on the last Wed in August.

Gerard Deulofeu would benefit from another year at Everton says Guillem Balague

Follow @footyscene1

Everton’s on loan winger Gerard Duelofeu would benefit from spending another season on loan at Goodison Park rather than returning to parent club Barcelona, according to Spanish pundit and writer Guillem Balague. The Spain U21 star has grabbed the attention in recent weeks with some sparkling displays and added to his growing reputation by scoring a tremendous equalising goal against Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates.

Football betting tips on who the favourites are to win this season’s Premiership

Follow @footyscene1

This season’s Premiership has got off to a very different start than last season’s. So far at least the season isn’t dominated by United and City, in fact the Manchester clubs have not got off to the best start. Another big difference is that the number of cards handed out for diving has been only a quarter of the number that were handed out by this time last season. Diving is a major scourge in top class football so it is in everybody’s interest that at last it is being outlawed.

This is the tale of when four Evertonians made the trip to the north east of The Ukraine in Oct 2007.

It’s Friday 31st August 2007 and I’m driving home to watch the Europa League qualifying round draw, grinning like someone who shouldn’t be allowed out alone, never mind gettin behind the wheel of a car. But I didn’t care what I looked like, because my team, Everton, were in the bag after finishing sixth last season. I knew the route home off by heart and after about 20 seconds started daydreaming of all the exotic European cities that awaited us. Was it to be a sunny one? like Spain or Italy or the culture of Bratislava, or even a good old favourite in Holland or Germany.

So, where do I go from here. It’s a feeling I’ve not  succumbed to during my 20 year stint on this earth, as an Evertonian. I’ve crawled out of bed in the same damp clothing I showered in following last night’s extraordinary scenes at Old Trafford, (Check my Instagram, it was a bizzare turn of events) and as I sit here reflecting, warm beverage in hand, the smile tip toes across my face.

Its been a couple of weeks since my last ‘Weekly Everton’ so it rather makes a mockery of the title I know but I have been a bit busy with one thing or another. However, its been an interesting couple of weeks since my last ditty so here goes.

Since my last post we have played both Liverpool and Stoke City at Goodison Park and 4 points from those fixtures is certainly not a bad return by any stretch of the imagination however, I can’t help feeling a little disappointed that its not 6points.
