This is merely a brief acknowledgement of the life and career of a Bona-Fide Music Legend whom unfortunately passed away recently .  Whilst not a series , it is likely to be something we maintain , should the necessity arise , hopefully not , in the course of 2012 .

Etta James was born  Jamesetta Hawkins , on 25th 1938 , in Los Angeles , U.S.A. . Her Mother , at the time , was 14 years old , and Her Father , un-named , was rumoured to be Caucasian – a Big Deal at that time in America .  It had been rumoured , and Etta herself mentioned that Her Dad was Minnesota Fats – the Famous Pool Player ; A White Man , and indeed , Etta James did get to meet him later in life . In a time of thousands of heartbreaking tales of the conditions hat families were forced to endure , James’ , is up there with the worst .

Single Review ; Goyte Featuring Kindra and Dice Raw ; Game of hrones ( Freestyle )

Some Hook Ups , a LOT , in fact , bore me before I even hear the track . This one , as , as you are aware , I DIGS The Roots , and Dice is not only a member of The Legendary Roots Crew , he is also My Twitter Mucka . Fact ; intrigued me from the off .

Goyte is an Belgian Born , but Aussie raised Musician , Wouter “ Wally “ De Backer . This single , previously released without the Freestyle , last year , was deemed of sufficient quality that it had came third in the Varner & Young  Songwriting Competition – Big Deal , Down Under , apparently  .One third of the Melbourne Based  , The Basics , De Backer is also a lover of remixes , revamping all of the 3 solo projects he has undertaken to date .

So , Clap Your Hands , Say Yeah … Who He .. ( They .. ) ???

The Band hail from Brooklyn , New York , a 5 Piece , and have been together since 2004 . Originating in Connecticut College They released their Self-Titled Debut Album in 2005 . Indeed , the Group are credited with being amongst the first Self-Created Phenomenon . That is , they achieved widespread notoriety without a record deal , and exposure purely via the Internet . They also enjoyed some Celebrity Groupie Exposure , as both Bowie and David Byrne were to be found amongst their live audience .
They signed to Witchita Recordings in October 2005 and released their Sophomore Record in early  2007 , Some Loud Thunder , whereupon ,  Ounsworth  , Lead Vocals , announced he was taking a break from the Group in order to record some older material for a Solo Album .

Gig Review: Liverpool Music Week Closing Party @ Liverpool CUC

Liverpool Music Week couldn’t have picked a better venue for its closing party. The large but still intimate venue with some beautifully decorated rooms and excellent views of the city provided a nice setting for the closing party.  Wandering from room to room provided a good way to check out some of the best upcoming acts around…

In the first of what I hope to be a series , I am outing forwards one of my Twitter Buddies , Young ,    A Me B – Amy Burns . We’ve been  Following each other for some months and I’ve noticed the reports and positive feedback increase exponentially .  Already having supported acts such as Tinchy Stryder , Ironik and Ayala , and recently performed at the famous Abbey Road Studios , all  to critical acclaim.

Amy Winehouse ; Lioness ; Hidden Treasures .

 
The other Album  I’ve chose to cover this month is the Amy Winehouse Lioness ;  Hidden Treasures . Say what you like about the late Ms. Winehouse ,  and everyone does , but Girlfriend had a voice .  Producers – and friends , Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi have put together this 12 Track Opus from tracks she had lain down prior to her death . All proceeds go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation  , I understand .

Jamiroquai ; Virtual insanity

The review Review , as it were , this month is actually a re-mastered package from 2006  – My spot ; my rules . it comes from , the re-jigged Greatest Hits ; High Times ,  though was actually released 10 years previously , and represents , Jamiroquai’s finest hour ; Virtual Insanity , taken from the L.P. Travelling without moving – Sony Music .
